Asafa to Race This Weekend! adminstush September 28, 2012 Suss Asafa Powell, former 100-metre world record holder, will be among several sprinters and drag racers taking the tarmac at Vernamfield Airfield in Clarendon this Sunday. The event — dubbed Vernamfield Rebirth — will see drivers from both disciplines competing in a joint meet for the first time. Gates open at 8 am while action is set to start at 10 am. Powell will be putting his 1,000hp Nissan Skyline to the drag test. According to Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club outgoing chairman Dean Corrodus, the joint meet is part of a mandate to spread motorsports across the island by reorganising the drag racing fraternity, unifying the disciplines and reviving the facility that has been the scene of many motoring achievements in the past. -from The Jamaica Observer Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
