Today is a proud day in the history of the African diaspora as Barack Hussein Obama II, son of an African immigrant, is inaugurated to his second term as President of the United States of America. Michelle Obama told the story of a little boy who visited the President, “He said “I want to know if my hair is just like yours.” And Barack replied, “Why don’t you touch it and see for yourself?” The little boy exclaimed, “Yes, it does feel the same!”” Today, on Martin Luther King Day, 150 years after the emancipation of slaves in that country, Barack Hussein Obama II, son of an African immigrant, will be inaugurated to his second term of President of the United States of America. LIME joins the celebration as we value this tremendous moment in the progress of the African diaspora and look forward to a future where our children will never have to question that they can see themselves reflected in greatness.
