On March 8, International Women’s Day (IBW) is celebrated around the world, recognising women for their achievements past, present, and future – sans any prejudice. This day has been observed in Jamaica since 1978, and the Bureau of Women’s Affairs (whose mission is to enable women to achieve their full potential as participants in Jamaica’s social, cultural and economic development) organised a commemoration to IBW at the Wyndham Hotel on Friday, and it was nothing short of inspirational! This event also marked the launch of the National Policy for Gender Equality. Enjoy our coverage of the launch as welook ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women!
